Does this mean we're incompatible?

So, tonight was the big night. About an hour or so in, my husband's first thought was 2001, and mine was The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. Maybe it's one of those Mars-Venus things?

Of course we both knew that a FTL jump near a black hole always means travel to an expected time and/or parallel universe, so maybe we're on the same wavelength after all.

More when I've had time to actually think about it a bit . . .

I am having a lot of trouble reconciling which elements were SF, which were magic, and which were hybrid. Guess I'll have to watch it again. Good thing I DVR'ed it.

There seems to have been a lot of what I'd call "intelligent design", for want of a better term. The supernatural beings seem to have pushed this and pulled that to make the very improbable science possible.

The "angels" could have been "just" very advanced yet still mortal beings - but the fact that they apparently helped orchestrate the slaughter of billions of people in order to achieve - what, a bunch of humans and Cylons running around Africa one day - makes me question their motives, to say nothing of the writers of this series that was supposed to be so real and gritty.
